No, I don’t. My ex living in Massachusetts was fined for not buying health insurance. He is a Republican, BTW. Fining people only angers them, it doesn’t change their minds about it.
The logical corollary to this is to give people a choice: Buy the kind of health insurance you want from a wide variety of policies and coverages. Or, if you don’t want to buy health insurance, the Insurance Commissioner should be able, by law, to force you to have a living will, a prepaid burial plan, and durable power of attorney so that any of your useful organs may be given to those in need. Just like bikers who don’t want to wear helmets or drivers who don’t want to use seat-belts should have the same such documents signed and filed in case they have an accident while riding helmet-less or driving unbelted.
