I have Tufts Health Plan HMO in Massachusetts. Can my health plan deny benefits for an injury based on how I got it? For instance, say I went bungee-jumping and broke my leg…. Can they say that that was a dangerous activity and therefore that they won’t pay for it? If so, how do I know what is and what isn’t considered a high-risk activity?
~~No, unless they have it as an exclusion on your policy. I’ve never seen that exclusion. However, every plan is different and the only 100% accurate answer comes from a rep thru your insurance co. Call the toll free number on the back of the card.~~
