Health Science vs Nursing?
I go to a school where I major in Health Science: Nutrition right now. I’ve considered switching into the Promotion and Fitness option of health science and going into physical therapy but I want to go into nursing. My mom doesn’t think I should transfer, she thinks I should get a degree in health science and then do a 2 year nursing program after I graduate. Would you do that or transfer at the end of your sophomore year? (I’ll be starting my sophomore year in the fall)
Why not do both? You can finish your current degree and then add a two year nursing degree to it. You can also get a dual degree in some states. Check with your college and see if that is an option. I know that most hospitals will offer to pay for everything (tiution, books, lab fees…) to a current employee that is interested in nursing. If you finish your current degree, you may not have to repeat some courses such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology, etc. Right now, the only real propblem is getting into a nursing school. They have become very competitive.
It might also be beneficial to sit down with your mother and your academic advisor and have this discussion.
