My undergraduate GPA little impact on my acceptance to a graduate program?

After my first year college I found myself with a very low GPA because of my lack of attention in my classes GENEDI. I'll be a senior and I 'm finally happy with my major and it shows in my GPA. I'm hoping to get a master's or doctorate and I'm curious to see how my 2.25 GPA will affect my chances of acceptance. I'm ready for my Stoneware, I have a lot of community service and research experience in my belt, and I'm getting to know some of my teachers. My major is political science with a minor in biology. I hope to study political science with a specialization in Health Care Administration / research, so that I can hope to get a job in a government agency. All ideas? PS I have another full year left of school over the 17 credit hours of summer, I just finished with a 4.0. The colleges look better over time as well? Thank you for the answers!

This varies considerably. It varies according to the graduate school, and on the ground. Some fields (I do not know if PoliSci one) have very firm soil, and if your GPA is below that floor, you can not take anywhere. Biology is like that, and other areas. And they usually look back GPA is 3.0. If your GPA is lower than that, you can have the highest GRE in the world, and a 4.0 in the last two years, and you will get not in. In other areas, it depends on the program Grad. The most competitive grad programs do you watch with an average that low, but others. In other areas such as MBA, you can have a GPA that low, and even into a large Grad program if your GPA in your last few years is very strong, and your GRE (or GMAT, in the case of MBA programs) is absolutely killer. I would talk to your academic advisor and the advisor for graduates Political Science from your current university. See if you can learn what is generally required by the Political Science Grad Programs. Are they hard and fast rules GPA, or is it a combo of GRE and GPA, etc.
