Breaking PA Teacher Contract?
I’m planning on quitting my current teaching position in PA. It is mid year but I cannot handle the overwhelming feeling of stress and depression that has consumed my life.
My question is this: What is the punishment for breaking a teacher contract in PA? Especially if you aren’t pursuing another teaching job, it’s solely based on my current health condition.
In a normal situation where there is a shortage if teachers, the Board can pull your teaching certificate/license for a year. In this economic time with hundreds of teachers out of work, it would only be a minor inconvenience to the Board. They’ll be able to hire someone easily. Just write a letter of resignation, explain the reasons and give at least 2 weeks notice, 4 would be better.
