OK, your question is too long to read the entire thing. Here’s what I would suggest:
Pretend like you are instructing someone in the subject you are studying. You will comprehend more and retain facts better. Besides, that imaginary friend sitting next to you can pay for the pizza during study time.
OK, so now I’ve read your full question. To be honest, I don’t remember what you said – primarily because you babble a lot. Find ways to be short and to the point. Being short and to the point will help you get your message across, AND you will learn to focus on the details and not on every scratch and dent on the page.
Example:
Tony rebuilt the engine of his P-51 Mustang and took it for a test flight. (short and to the point, states what he did)
ExBABBLE:
Tony finished rebuilding the engine of his vintage P-51 Mustang and, after reassembling the cowling to the engine compartment he started the newly rebuilt engine and taxied to the runway. He revved the engine hard and sped down the runway, pulling back on the stick and took off. Gaining altitude, he rolled and dove the plane testing it to all its limits. (not so short, and filled with lots of superfluous details)
While the second example shows much more detail and paints a picture, the intent of the story was to show what Tony did. Apparently he had a P-51 Mustang fighter plane that he was rebuilding. Naturally after something has been repaired, next comes the testing of it. So he took it for a test flight.
When you look back on the story, that’s just what he did, fix it, fly it. While in creative writing, you DO want to give detail to the story, it helps put the reader there in “Real Time”. But again, in summary, Tony rebuilt an airplane engine and took it for a test flight. What kind of plane?? A P-51 Mustang.
To help you study, think in terms of short and sweet. What is the subject and what is being done.
Good luck to you.
