Would I still qualify for Medi-Cal?
(I'm in California) Please help me in my situation. I bought a blanket Kaiser individual health since my current job does not offer health benefits. My plan is $ 1,500 and $ 3,500 deductible out-of-pocket limit. I just found out I'm pregnant. With all the doctor visits and ultrasounds, many will come from my pocket, I prefer to save money for my baby. I know that my income to qualify for Medi-Cal, but what is it now that I have insurance. It will be difficult to find the money to pay deductibles and out-of-pocket …
You need to apply, but not under regular Medi-Cal – apply under the WIC – Women, Infants and Children. They are much more flexible in their guidelines on income, and will probably recover all deductibles and copays on a secondary basis.
