Facts about SCHIP?
Why did Bush veto the SCHIP children’s health care bill? What is currently covered, and what would the new bill add? I heard it would raise the income level to a level of people who could already afford health care for their children and would cost too much. I know this is a political hot button, but I’d like some hard numbers and facts.
Under the current plan, what income level is eligibile?
He did so because not only would it raise the income level to allow the majority of Americans to enroll into this attempt to socialize our heathcare, there are already many federal and state government programs which will provide heathcare for those who cannot afford it. Where I come from, people with incomes of $80k per year are not living in poverty and can afford decent health insurance.
Calling it a “children’s healthcare bill” knowing that the president would veto it is a political ploy by the democrats. The fact is that there is plenty of free heathcare available for those who choose to seek out and apply for it. In America, it is law that NOBODY who is in a life-threatening health condition be turned away. The SCHIP program is redundant, and unnecessary given the costs associated with it.
